Moved In

Now that I am working full time, Prue and I found a place to live and moved earlier this week. We’re all settled now and the place is actually really, really, good. There is only one problem: No ADSL on the phone line :( . I’m still working out exactly how we’re going to get around that issue but Next G wireless might be the go – personal bias aside it looks like the right technology at the right time. And besides this way I get to try out wireless internet, and I am a tech junkie so it’ll be cool!!!

Oh and I got a spam comment, the first one :) .

NextG is very impressive. i use it for work when I’m on call out of hours (I’m actually on it now on a moving train in a tunnel :-) ).

Only problem is that it is also *very* expensive.

It is expensive. But it is about the only option, short of dialup or isdn. Did a speed test last night which returned ~1300kbps which is as fast as going to get out here in the sticks :) so that will be usable. Unfortunately the data limits are rather tight. I’m planning on probably running a local proxy and caching aggressively. In fact I might even try the compressing proxy route too if too much data is chewed through.
